Is it really a one-time payment?+
Yes. Pay once and Carousel Studio is yours, including free updates across version 1. The regular price is $49 — for the first 100 customers it's $19. Your licence key arrives right after checkout and activates offline — no subscription, no recurring charge.
Do I need an API key?+
Yes — your own Google Gemini key (free from Google AI Studio) or an OpenRouter key. Free tiers cover everyday use, and you pay the AI provider directly (usually cents). This is why the app costs a one-time fee instead of a monthly one — it runs on your key, not our servers.
What does it actually make?+
A 3–8 slide 1080×1080 carousel (PNG), real animated MP4 chart slides where the story has numbers, a 9:16 reel (headline over a reaction clip), and an SEO caption with hashtags plus per-slide alt text — everything you paste into Instagram or Threads.
Where does my data go?+
Everything runs on your own computer: your projects, AI key and generations are stored locally, and generated carousels clear themselves 48 hours after they are made — download what you want to keep. Photos already saved into the app’s media folder stay on your disk until you delete them. The app itself has no telemetry and no analytics. The only thing we keep is your purchase record (email + licence key) so you can recover your key. This website is separate: it uses cookieless aggregate analytics, plus Google Analytics only if you accept the cookie banner.
Is this a Canva alternative?+
For carousels specifically, yes — with a real trade-off. Canva is the better design tool and always will be; Carousel Studio is the better tool for going from a topic to ten finished slides without designing them, and it costs $19 once instead of a subscription. What size are the slides, and is that right for Instagram?+
Slides export at 1080×1080 (square), the size Instagram displays cleanly across every slide of a carousel. Instagram also accepts 1080×1350 portrait, which takes more vertical space in the feed — the trade-offs are covered in the carousel sizes and specs guide. Cover headlines are laid out inside a 13% side margin so Instagram’s 3:4 profile-grid crop can’t cut them off.
Which computers are supported?+
Both. Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later) on a recent macOS — signed and notarized by Apple — and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). The Windows build isn’t code-signed yet, so it shows a "Windows protected your PC" warning on first run — click More info → Run anyway. One licence covers whichever platform you’re on.
Can I schedule posts?+
Yes — connect Buffer or Blotato in Settings and fan a carousel or reel out to your accounts. Scheduling media needs a public URL (the app guides you); or just download and post manually.
How do I get help?+
Email [email protected] — a human reads it. Include your purchase email if it’s about your licence; the app also has a one-click "Copy details" on any error so you can paste the diagnostics.
